Top Sites for Translation Jobs
Proz.com
Seasoned translators know about Proz.com anyway but this review will be definitely useful for those who are making their first steps in translation business.
is “The translation workplace” for translators from all over the world and it really helps you to network, improve your work and expand your business. According to Alexa, website that gathers web information and statistics, ProZ.com belongs to top 5,000 most visited websites in the world. Translation jobs posted last year cost over $60 million and there are 160,000 registered translators, interpreters and linguists.
Here’s the most useful things about the website:
- You can create our own profile with lots of details so that potential customers can make an informed decision when they choose a translator.
- Customers can also post their job and received quotes from the translators who are interested in taking it up. The outsourcer can choose the best offer by comparing the bids and the bidders’ skills and experience.
- Translators can get help with difficult terms and those who answer questions receive KudoZ points (gain reputation).

Proz rocks to find translation partners and get translation help, but jobs… Well, that depends a great deal on where you are living and what the going rates are in your corner of the planet. If you are working in a place with lower rates than the place in which your client or agency is operating, then your chances of getting jobs from high-rate countries is fabulous. The reverse, though, does not apply.
Still, I have to agree, it is a fantastic site. In addition to what you’ve already mentioned, Proz has a great collection of relevant articles–including product reviews and comparisons.

I have been registered on translatorscafe, translatorsbase and proz for a number of years and find these sites extremely helpful in looking for jobs and translators to work with.
Proz has a section where one can search through database of terms and post their own questions. Usually you get an answer within next 30 minutes or so.
All of the above mentioned sites offer clients to post their feedback. This is invaluable! When you accumulate some reviews, it’ll be also easier to find more jobs.
